Welding Photo Gallery: Frame for Wood Gates

When the wooden gates for the different outdoor storage areas at Dirksen Hall needed to be replaced it looked like a good welding project for the NECA/IBEW welding students to work on. The NECA/IBEW apprentices take their welding training at ICC and the college allows them the opportunity to gain practical experience by building certain welding projects for the college and the community. The old gates were all wood and had started to warp and droop. The new metal gate frames were constructed out of square tubing and should give the college years of service. I would like to thank the NECA/IBEW for helping on this project.

The old gate had become warped and worn out.

The new Dirksen Storage Area gates have a much stronger frame.

The new welded frame is much more durable.

Another view of the new welded frame.
