NECA/IBEW students used their welding training to create a mobile storage locker for the ICC Fitness Center. Jennifer Miller of the Illinois Central College fitness center, needed a mobile storage locker to house the equipment used in her Stair Aerobics class.
Uni-strut for the frame work was chosen because that is the material the electricians will weld out on the job. The physical education department purchased the material and the apprentices supplied the labor. We used old wheels off of a scrapped-out custodial cart.
The college has around 300 dollars invested in the materials used to build this storage locker.
A cart similar to this would cost around 1100 dollars if purchased from a supplier.

The completed mobile storage cart is in use at the fitness center.
