AWS Peoria Section Welding Contest 2004

On Thursday March 18 the Peoria Section held its second annual welding contest at the Illinois Central College welding shop. A total of 35 people competed in the contest. The contest was divided in to two categories; high school and college/apprentice programs.
We had 20 high school students participate and 15 people in the college/apprentice program. The top four in each competition are listed below.

High School Competition Winners
First--Kris Weiss of East Peoria High School
Second--Corey Dawson of Canton High School
Third--Curtis Postin of Lewistown High School
Fourth--Jeremy Vance of East Peoria High School

College/Apprentice Program Winners
First--Chris Sieg of the JATC Carpenters/Millwright
Second--Todd Short of Illinois Central College
Third--Tyler Kocher of Illinois Central College
Fourth--William Scott of the JATC Carpenters/Millwright

The Peoria Section of the American Welding Society and Illinois Central College hosted a welding contest on Thursday, March 18. There were two categories High School and College/ Trade School.

Curt Rippey the 2003-2004 Chair of the Peoria Section of the American Welding Society (pictured below) is giving contest instructions to the college and trade apprentices.

Welding students from schools throughout the Peoria area are welcome to compete.

Spoon River Community College Welding Program participated in the competition.
