American Welding Society Peoria Chapter Meeting
November 17, 2004 -
5:30 pm to 8:00 pm

    Shane Seals, welding instructor at Limestone High School, was the host for this years American Welding Society Peoria Section Student Night.  Student Night is designed to inform students, both high school and adults, about the benefits of the American Welding Society and how the organization can help people to  get the education they need to start a career in welding.  Scott Strode of the Illinois School of Welding in Bartonville,  Rick Polanin of Illinois Central College and Bob Branan of the Boiler Makers Union all presented information about their schools or training organizations.  Eric Ockerhausen, Peoria Section Chair informed the students of the scholarship opportunities available, the AWS Student Memberships, the Peoria Section Student Welding contest to be held on Thursday, March 17 at the Illinois Central College welding shop and the welded metal sculpture contest to be held on Saturday, April 16 at the Illinois Central College Campus.  About 25 people attended the meeting and we adjourned around 7:30 pm.
